In the Heart of the City someone is praying for you night and day

Prayer is the quintessence of Carmelite life. To understand Carmel we must know what prayer is.

Prayer is not a mere recitation of prepared formulae, not is it simply the last resort when human solutions have failed to solved our problems.

Prayer means being on terms of intimate friendship with God. It is knowing that God is our Father, loving and concerned over each one of us. It is recognizing His presence, His providence, trusting Hi, and loving Him in return. Anyone can pray. Everyone should pray. If eternal life is to be an enjoyment of God, seen and understood, should not our life on earth be the beginning of our friendship?

Any place can be a place of prayer for God is everywhere. Any action – except sin – can be made into a prayer, for anything can be done for the love of God.
