Beloved brothers and sisters, as I was reflecting on the readings of this 32d Sunday of the year, there is a beautiful thread that goes to the three readings. The first reading speaks about wisdom. the second reading speaks about death. The gospel speaks about the parable of the wise virgins and the Lord’s injunction that we should always be ready.
One of the most unforgettable places I have visited as a Carmelite is a place called Las Ermitas. This is a beautiful hermitage of the friars in the hills surrounding the City of Cordova in southern Spain in Andalucia.
